Recently, I learned of a friend’s anxiety while talking about keeping up with the joneses’ in his community back in the U.S. The dichotomy of that perspective - in contrast to the severe poverty here and elsewhere – inspired this work. I’ve seen true wealth in the hearts of the poorest here who have nearly nothing; those who would never consider the idea of keeping up with the joneses’.

Recientemente, un amigo me platicó sobre la angustia que siente al tratar de competir con los vecinos en su comunidad en los EE.UU. La dicotomía de esa perspectiva - en contraste con la extrema pobreza aquí y en otros lugares – me inspiró a crear esta obra. He visto la verdadera riqueza en los corazones de los más pobres aquí. Los que tienen casi nada, y que nunca considerarían la idea de competir con los vecinos en esa forma.
