During a recent trip to Philadelphia, I discovered more than a few shops with unique or 'absurd' offerings: skeletons of small animals, art made from human hair, taxidermied animals at every turn. The image behind the oval glass (a male figure with his mouth wide open, bottom center) is from a 1930's catalogue purchased at one of those shops, and describes (with multiple photos and texts) how to correctly take x-rays of the human skeleton.

Shops such as those, coupled with my background in theatre, inspired this work.
