jeremiah

Jeremiah Cover_edited.png

“The imagery throughout Jeremiah often made me stop, close my eyes, and find myself in the pages of the story... A story about love, acceptance and freedom that have meaning for us living and loving today.”

“I couldn’t wait to finish (the novel) to tell you this: It is heartfelt and tender… your dialogue is incredible and so moving.”

“Every character felt completely real.

I was totally engaged the whole time!”

“Masterful, tragically beautiful. I marvel at your the connection to that period of time!”

Jeremiah is a sweeping love story born in the shadows of injustice between an escaped slave with a love for learning, art and life itself, and a white Southern abolitionist who, by the grace of God, finds his hand raised at a slave auction.

Neither expects the bond that will grow between them—nor the dangers that follow—in this unforgettable tale that will stay with you long after the final page.

You will perhaps find yourself with tears “big as pancakes” streaming down your cheeks, and opening your heart in ways you knew not possible, as their journey of peril and hope, defiance and devotion unfolds—culminating in a legacy of freedom and healing.

There will come a time when you’ll be glad of the day you met Jeremiah, and hold him, and his story, in your heart—forever.

Trust, with a capital T

Trust.png

Described as "a brilliant guidebook... adopting its principles will not only make a positive impact on your life but on the future of the planet. Without Trust in one another and ourselves, we would not be able to survive as a species."

Foreword written by Debra Poneman.

Rest, The Art of Doing Less helps us let go of our collective addiction to busyness and overwhelm, and welcome in self-care, and ultimately, deep self-love.

Sometimes we find ourselves pushing through, feeling exhausted on more days, and in more ways, than we care to count.

In this inspiring book, Bennett gives us much needed permission to lovingly say 'no' to being busy, and to stop wearing our exhaustion as a status symbol.

Instead, he invites us to say 'yes' to our self-care, and ultimately, our self-love."

"A powerful, practical guide on the magic ingredient to successful, sustainable, creative living."

"A gem of a book...Beautiful, thought-provoking and inspiring."

"I fell in love with this book from the moment I picked it up. I like the way “rest” is equated to self care. If I had realized that earlier in life, I would not have felt guilty when resting"

At once playful, insightful and deeply human, this deceptively simple book is chockfull of delightful reminders of what it means to be a human navigating this life of ours.

Moving, wise, funny and unexpectedly motivating, When in Doubt is a collection of random, practical ideas to help anyone become more grounded and clear, creating “oh, that’s right” and “aha” moments by reminding us of what truly matters, in a subtle and easily digestible form.

Open to any page, perhaps for direction about an issue, or devour the entire book at once, cuddled up with a blanket and a cup of coffee; you’ll be guaranteed to come away with a contented smile that arises from inside of you.

art by bennett

twenty years later is a photographic collection of some of my assemblage art from found objects.

These works were created using objects that I find on the streets of México, in the trash, reclaimed from recycling centers, and in thrift stores north of the border. It's been more than 20 years since I first saw images of Joseph Cornell's work and thought that's for me.

My first workbench was in the basement of our home in Wilmington, Delaware circa 1975 (I was 10 years old). I'd find old boxes and put objects inside of them — nuts, pine cones and dried weeds, carpeting from the upstairs hallway, nails covered in rust.

An early artist's statement spoke of the basement, too "...standing in front of my father's workbench, admiring all that lay before me... tangled wire and rust. Dusty cabinets hiding treasures beneath faded cobwebs."

And so began my own love affair with scavenging — digging through objects long discarded, considering, noticing their inherent beauty, bringing life to them.

poems by joseph bennett

When the pandemic hit, I decided to write one poem a day for one year.

After, I'd cull through the 300+ poems and choose a few dozen or so that I liked, and share them with you.

Welcome to word after word;

"An immediate hit of refreshment. So accessible, light, insightful, refreshing and sometimes profound and moving. Like any great poet, Joseph transports me to a different and desired state. Thank you!"

"My husband and I love this affirming collection of poems! We often read selections to each other at bedtime, opening our hearts to each other."
